This is a house that was designed for an elderly man who lived by himself. The main requirement for the design was for the master suite and all primary living spaces to be located on the first floor. The second floor bedrooms would serve as guest bedrooms.
The house and garage form an “L” on the property to give the rear yard the maximum privacy. The house is designed in a formal classical style with formal rooms, and is laid out on a small lot in Old Metairie, just outside of New Orleans, that is 74 feet wide by 95 feet deep.
An earlier design for the same house was designed as a cottage with dormer windows. This earlier design won a Professional Builder Magazine Honorable Mention Award in the “on the boards” category in 2012. The display in the magazine can be seen here. (This will link to a PDF copy that I have on file.)
The project was never built.
