This is the first of seven identical houses designed by William Freret, and known as Freret’s Folly because it was a speculative development that was done immediately before the outset of the Civil War.

In 1965, Hurricane Betsy hit New Orleans and damaged the first house’s entablature. The repair done at the time was to replace the entablature with a fascia and gutter. This project restored the entablature to match the original design.
